The equation governing the pulse propagation in nonlinear fiber grating in the case of nonresonance is derived. The results show that the equation is a modified nonlinear Schrodinger equation. Not like in the case of resonance, in which the solitons are spatial solitons, the structure support only temporal soliton propagation. Compared with the pulse propagation in monomode fiber, the pulses in nonresonant fiber grating are only added a periodic phase along the propagation distance.
