C-Testable Motion Estimation Design for Video Coding Systems

摘要
A C-testable motion estimation (CTME)design to efficiently detect the faults in process elements(PEs) is presented. The goal of the CTME design is tooffer high reliability for video coding systems. Theproposed CTME was carried out by Verilog HDL (veryhigh speed integrated circuit hardware descriptionlanguage) and synthesized with the TSMC (Taiwan Semiconductor Manufacturing Company) 0.18 μmCMOS technology. Logic simulation results show thatthe proposed CTME guarantees 100% fault coveragewith only 8 sets of test patterns. Design verification andcomparisons also demonstrate that the area overhead ofthe proposed CTME is about 4.8% with little delaypenalty.
