摘要
Legume roots can fix atmospheric nitrogen(N2) via symbiotic bacteria of the Rhizobium genus in root nodules. The symbiotic nitrogen fixation(SNF) by rhizobia can fix up to80% of biologically fixed nitrogen in agricultural fields. This ability of legumes makes them environment-friendly crops by reducing the usage of nitrogen fertilizer(Gong et al.,2020). The SNF in legume nodules is a highly energy-demanding process, fueled by plants that supply photoassimilates mainly in the form of sucrose(Udvardi and Poole, 2013).
