First,this article reviews the background of microwave imaging for early breast cancer detection,with a focus on active methods.Then active approaches,namely microwave tomography and radar-based microwave imaging,to microwave breast cancer detection are overviewed briefly,where there are recent developments in imaging algorithms as well as antennas,models,phantom and experimental systems.Lastly,we give concluding remarks and future research.In a word,the main objective of this article is to provide an overview of the principles,development,and current research status of these approaches.
