Journal of Foreign Languages

(ISSN 1004-5139),a bimonthly hosted by Shanghai International StudiesUniversity,and published by Shanghai Foreign Language Education Press (Shanghai,China),is concerned with all branches of theoretical linguistics,including syntax,morphology,phonetics/phonology,semantics,pragmatics,and historical,sociological,cognitive (computational and psychological) aspects of language,and linguistic theory.The journal also publishes articles on theories of translation,and provides an excellent survey of recent publications in the field with review articles on major works marking important theoretical advances.Contributions that establish robust empirical generalizations that permit precise discussion are most welcome.The empirical range of the work may either involve cross-linguistic comparison of two or more different languages or elucidate issues in theoretical linguistics through the exemplary analysis of one language.
