So far,only single-point diamond(SPD)cutting tool has been used in mirror turning.In this paper,astudy is made on the turning with multipoint diamond-polycrystalline diamond(PCD)cutting tool,whichis cheap,conductive and uniform.The experimental results obtained in end face cutting of oxygen-free cop-per(OFC)and duralumin(LY12)show that PCD cutting tool is fully competent for mirror turning.In addi-tion,a new viewpoint that multi-point diamond cutting tool follows the“multi-point cutting and sin-gle-point shaping”principle is advanced.
