The family of human brain myelin basic protein (MBP) has at least four members, and only 21.5kDa MBP in the family is encoded by the 1st—7th exons of MBP gene. The MBP cloned DNA fragment screened from human brain cDNA library with a specific probe may be an undesired isoform and often flanks with a 5’ or/and 3’ noncoding sequences.
