In the paper the effective potential model and Morse’s functions have been applied to thecalculations of the interaction potential between the incident electron and metastable He(2S).Both the polarization and exchange effects have been included. Using the potential and thepartial wave method, partial phase shifts, partial cross sections and total cross sections havebeen computed for the scattering of e-He(2S) in the energy range of 0.4-10eV. The effectsof polarization and exchange on the scattering have been studied. The calculated results havebeen compared with the experiments and other calculations.
