By how many nucleons is a pion absorbed? In spite of many years’ study, this question is still under discussion. In an earlier paper, we put forward a model for the analysis of nucleon inclusive spectra after stopped pion absorption. It is based on 2-nucleon absorption mechanism followed by final state interaction which is treated by a multiple scattering expansion. The agreement between the theoretical calculation and the measurements is quite encouraging.
