Acute esophageal necrosis (AEN) or“black esophagus”isa clinical condition found at endoscopy.It is a rare entitythe exact etiology of which remains unknown.We describea case of‘black esophagus’,first of its kind,in the settingof liver cirrhosis and hepatic encephalopathy.
