A novel three-phase four-wire active power filter applicable to aircraft power system

With the development of the more electric aircraft, number of the airborne electric equipment gets increased. It brings the aircraft electric power system large harmonic pressure which will be harmful to the flight safety. The inherent reliability of the conventional three-phase four-wire active power filter (APF) is not high so that it has limitations in aircraft applications. A novel APF with high reliability is proposed to solve this problem. The switching model of the novel APF is established to indicate the relationship between the novel APF and the conventional one. The operation principle and the current control strategy of the novel APF are studied. Furthermore, the simulation model and experimental platform are built and tested to verify the feasibility of the proposed APF. The results show that, after novel APF's compensation, the voltage and current distortion rates of the aircraft grid are below 5% and 8% separately and both of them meet the relevant standards.
