Menander and Aristotle's Poetics: A New Reading of the Second Act of Aspis

In this contribution, a new interpretation of the second act of Aspis is proposed in order to suggest a further aspect of the relationship between Menander and Aristotle: the comparison of this passage with Aristotle's Poetics seems to highlight that the play-wright adheres to the precepts of the Stagirite not only with regard to the structural elements of the plot and the ethical aspects of the characters, but also in the resump-tion of critical reflections on the staging techniques adopted by the tragic genre, es-pecially by Euripides.
