In order to study the dynamic characteristics of a dual drive feed system, a multi degrees of freedom model of the system was established by using the energy method. The method considers the influences of the screw nut pair, the support bearing and the joint surface parameters of the linear rolling guide rail. According to the Lagrange equation, the stiffness, mass matrix and displacement expression of the double drive feed system were derived. The natural frequency of the system was calculated by numerical simulation, and the influential factors on it were analyzed. The research shows that the axial stiffness of the system, the mass and position of the working table are the main factors affecting the first order natural frequency. Increasing the distance between the screws can suppress the torsional vibration of the working table. The experimental results show that the dynamic model can accurately reflect the dynamic characteristics of the system. © 2017, Editorial Office of Journal of Vibration and Shock. All right reserved.
