The feed water pump is one of the important accessory equipments. Investigations of the new driven type for feedwater pump could reduce auxiliary power, simplify the feedwater pump system and reduce initial investments on relevant equipments. Thus driven type study is an important research topic to the development of large scale supercritical and ultra-supercritical units. In this paper, we made the comprehensive technical and economical comparisons between the electric and steam-driven feedwater pump configurations in the 600 MW supercritical air-cooling generator set. A new configuration of feed water pump coaxially driven by turbine was introduced on the technical scheme, equipment setting and characteristics. Based on the comparisons of the initial investment, economy and annual cost, the feed water pump coaxially driven by turbine driver stands out economically. Thus, the results provide a theoretical reference to the driven feed water pump selection process for the 600 MW supercritical and 1000 MW ultra-supercritical generator set. © 2012 China.
