After ground tire rubber (GTR)'s continuous desulfurization, refining process should be carried out to prepare reclaimed rubber (RR), now it is proposed to use co-rotating twin screw extruder instead of the traditional mixing mill (refiner) for this refining process. By simulating the shear capacity of the rubber desulfurization in different refining equipmen with POLYFLOW software, the shear rate contour, shear stress contour, their weighted average and strain distribution were obtained, then combined with the experimental results and taking the various advantages of co-rotating twin screw extruder in the refining process into account, it is concluded that the refining effect of the co-rotating twin screw extruder is better. © 2017, Editorial Board of Polymer Materials Science & Engineering.
