摘要
This paper reviews the literature on additively manufactured passive two-phase heat transfer devices. While passive two-phase heat transfer devices are a common technology for electronics cooling, and Additive Manufacturing (AM) has established itself as an industry-accepted freeform manufacturing technique, it is still rather uncommon to use AM to fabricate passive two-phase heat transfer devices. This paper strives to explore interesting and unique features and provide critical insights into the synergy between both technologies. Material and working fluid selection, design and manufacture approaches, as well as wick structures and performance considerations of additively manufactured passive two-phase heat transfer devices are assessed. Finally, opportunities and challenges are highlighted for future research. There is much potential for the combined application of both technologies complementing existing passive two-phase heat transfer devices and (non-AM) manufacturing techniques. © 2025 Elsevier Ltd
