Recent Studies on Memory Policies in Colombia: A Systematic Review

The present study aimed to conduct a systematic review of academic production concerning memory policies in Colombia between 2010 and 2023, to explore the perspectives and approaches with which they have been addressed. Methodologically, the initial corpus search was conducted on the Research Rabbit platform powered by artificial intelligence. The study followed PRISMA recommendations and included 50 academic documents, comprising scientific articles and undergraduate and postgraduate theses, approached through documentary analysis. As a result, and following Groppo's (2002) definition of memory policies, the document corpus was classified into studies dedicated to the treatment of official policies (N=33), non-official policies (N=14), and an additional group where both possibilities were analyzed in a hybrid manner (N=3). A prevalence of studies with a critical perspective on the origin or implementation of official memory policies was established. Works on non-official policies discuss the scope of institutional memory provisions and contrast them with the memory practices constructed by communities. The analysis yields an organized overview, corresponding to a documentary teleology on the origin and evolution of official memory policies in the country. It is concluded that the research contributes to understanding the material conditions under which memory dynamics operate, their organization, and development in Colombian society.
