摘要
This chapter includes two contributions: i) utilization of environmental data obtained from application of the Life Cycle Assessment methodology as a decision criterion at the time of optimizing an energy supply system; and ii) application to a hospital located in Northeast Brazil. The optimization model is based on Mixed Integer Linear programming (MILP). Optimization encompasses the configuration of the system along with operational strategy, considering specific energy demands for a hospital, starting from a superstructure that included cogeneration modules, boilers, chillers, heat exchangers and even photovoltaic (PV) panels for the production of electricity. The electricity produced by PV panels could be fed into the electric grid, in accordance with legal regulations, and realize benefits. © 2016, Springer International Publishing Switzerland.
