Wavelets are filters that keep us from seeing what we set out to see in seismic data: the earth's reflectivity. Through deconvolution, we try to remove the wavelet from the data. In tying wells, we make a wavelet interact with well-log measurements to create a synthetic representation of the seismic according to the borehole. © 2016 by The Society of Exploration Geophysicists.
