摘要
Laparoscopic sleeve gastrectomy (LSG) is a common bariatric surgical procedure for treating obesity. Understanding factors influencing weight loss outcomes post-LSG is crucial for optimizing patient care. This study aimed to investigate demographic and clinical factors associated with weight loss outcomes following LSG. A retrospective cohort study was conducted on 253 patients undergoing LSG at Abha Private International Hospital in Saudi Arabia between January 2018 and June 2022. Data on gender, age, blood group, chronic diseases, body mass index, and percentage of excess weight loss (%EWL) were analyzed using descriptive statistics, chi-square tests, t tests, ANOVA, logistic regression, and post hoc analyses. Males achieved higher %EWL compared to females (P < .05). Blood group A+ and age group (<25 years) were associated with better weight loss outcomes (P < .05). Logistic regression identified gender, blood group A+, and age group (<25 years) as significant predictors of weight loss outcomes post-LSG. Gender, blood group A+, and age group (<25 years) are important determinants of weight loss outcomes following LSG. Personalized treatment strategies considering these factors may enhance the effectiveness of bariatric surgery interventions. Further research is needed to explore additional factors impacting weight loss outcomes in bariatric surgery.
