摘要
Purpose:To evaluate the foveal granular reflexes (Jampol dots) in macula with multiple evanescent white dot syndrome and describe the pathophysiology. Methods:Eighteen eyes of 18 multiple evanescent white dot syndrome cases (4 male and 14 female) were studied. We evaluated the presence and location of Jampol dots and classified them into micro and fused types based on the fundus appearance, and mixed type was included in the fused type. The findings of Jampol dots in optical coherence tomography and en face optical coherence tomography were investigated. A normal 18 eyes were also analyzed. Results:Jampol dots seen in 15 of 18 eyes (83%): micro type in 5 eyes and fused type in 10 eyes. Optical coherence tomography showed more outer retinal damage in the fused type than in the micro type (10 of 10 eyes, 100% vs. 3 of 5 eyes, 60%). En face optical coherence tomography showed two kinds of findings: hyperreflections in the superficial capillary slab and hyperreflections in the outer retinal slab. The mean visual acuity was worse in the fused type compared with the micro type. Conclusion:Jampol dots with multiple evanescent white dot syndrome were classified into two types, and their localization was found to be different. This could be useful in understanding the pathogenesis of multiple evanescent white dot syndrome.
