"Pharmacy education" as a scientific field and discipline

摘要
Background and Aims: This article focuses on the importance of pharmacy education as a science. The conceptual framework of educational processes is given, the importance of educational science, and the characteristics of pharmacy education and accreditation of pharmacy education are mentioned. The aim of this article is to discuss the necessity and benefits of establishing a "pharmacy education" department for Turkey soon. Methods: In this article, two methods were used. In addition to the literature review, interviews with experts were presented and comparisons and suggestions were made as outputs. Interviews with experts who are managing the education department in the fields of medicine and nursing are summarised and the impressions obtained were conveyed. Results: We attempted to reveal the possible contributions of the establishment of the "pharmacy education" department in order to increase the education quality and to comply with the accreditation expectations, to strengthen the competencies of pharmacists who need to be experts in patient education, and subsequentlyto contribute to the improvement of public health. The experts from the education departments of medical and nursing schools emphasised that it is not easy to establish a department and find manpower. It was also emphasised that establishing a department structurally is not a solution to all situations related to "education management". Conclusion: The establishment of education departments in medical and nursing schools has had a profound impact on the quality and effectiveness of health education. The departments are essential for developing standardised curricula, promoting curricular innovation, enhancing faculty development and conducting research. By preparing students for technological advances in health care, the integration of health informatics further supports the modernisation of health education.
