摘要
Dermatomyositis is a class of autoimmune connective tissue diseases characterised by skin rash and proximal myopathy. Research to date has shown a strong association between dermatomyositis and underlying malignancy. This report presents a case of rapidly progressing neuroendocrine carcinoma manifesting as paraneoplastic dermatomyositis in a relatively healthy middle-aged man. We aim to highlight the importance of having medical professionals be comfortable with identifying signs and symptoms of dermatomyositis in a timely and efficient manner. This report highlights the importance of being aware of the possibility of an underlying malignancy in a patient with dermatomyositis and being proficient in its workup
