摘要
LGBTQ+ parenting as a phenomenon has gradually transformed from being invisibilized and ignored by policy makers, service providers, and the public, to gaining increased social and policy attention and recognition. It is indeed perplexing that there is little known about LGBTQ+ parents in China, home to one of the largest LGBTQ+ populations in the world, counted in the tens of millions. While research on LGBTQ+ issues in China has been growing, LGBTQ+ parenting has not been a particularly strong focus of such research. LGBTQ+ parenting in China is a very timely topic of academic and policy debate that touches core issues in the areas of family studies, sexuality studies, citizenship and rights, and legal and policy development. This special issue is unique in including four original research articles, two short essay reflections from practitioners, and three first-hand heartfelt stories from Chinese LGBTQ+ parents.
