摘要
This article focuses on a comprehensive crosswalk of existing genomic nurse competencies, with genomic foundation and its implications in cancer care for nurses navigating the complex landscape of cancer care in the genomic era. Genomics is a fast-moving science, and continued human and cancer genome discoveries have pushed its application throughout the cancer care continuum. Nurses are uniquely positioned to contribute to improving precision health for all individuals and populations. Although limited knowledge and comfort with genomics in nursing faculty and students are reported, efforts have been made to create educational programs for practicing nurses. By equipping nurses with the competencies to understand and translate genomic science into practice, we can empower nurses to play a more proactive and impactful role in delivering personalized cancer care. Future efforts should focus on integrating these competencies in nursing education while creating a global consensus on competencies in genetics and genomics tailored to the specific needs and requirements of the country's nursing practice.
