Chemical Synthesis of Zinc Oxide Nanoparticles and Their Antimicrobial Potential Against Opportunistic Hospital Pathogens

摘要
Bacterial resistance to antibiotics is a growing global challenge. This study investigates the antimicrobial effects of zinc oxide nanoparticles (ZnO-NPs) on clinical strains of Acinetobacter baumannii and Staphylococcus aureus, focusing on their synergy with the antibiotic ciprofloxacin. ZnO-NPs were synthesized and characterized using XRD, FT-IR, and SEM techniques. Their antimicrobial activity was evaluated against both bacteria, and the minimum inhibitory concentration (MIC) was determined. The results demonstrated that ZnO-NPs effectively inhibited bacterial growth, with enhanced effects when combined with ciprofloxacin, particularly against A. baumannii. These findings suggest that ZnO-NPs could reduce antibiotic resistance and offer a promising approach to combating multidrug-resistant bacteria.
