摘要
Media attention on female war victims mainly perpetuates stereotyped reports that emphasize on the traditional role of women and normalize violence against women. In contrast, this article aims to emphasize the role and responsibilities of women during the era of war, which changed from their traditional roles to more challenging responsibilities. This article uses a qualitative content analysis. This method analyses the content of reports of the Russian-Ukrainian war and its impact on women based on three media sources. First, news reports from media organizations such as the BBC and the Deccan Herald. Second, reports from the United Nations News Bulletin and third, a non-profit and independent newspaper such as The New Humanitarian. These selected media materials use English as the medium of delivery and are published digitally and online. The results of the study found that the power of the media through newspaper reports is essential in making disclosures, conveying messages and giving awareness to the community that women need to be valued equally as men because the role of women during the war has changed when they also play a challenging role and bear responsibility as the men in defending the country from enemy invasion.
