摘要
Spending time in nature can provide many health benefits. Yet, spaces like national, provincial, territorial or state parks that should encourage people to experience these benefits remain surprisingly inaccessible to individuals with disabilities. The objective of this project was to conduct a scoping review of YouTube videos that discuss barriers and facilitators to park accessibility. Our initial search identified 18,716 videos, 308 of which met our inclusion criteria related to identifying barriers or facilitators to park accessibility. These videos generally fell into two broad categories: people with disabilities describing their lived experiences and webinars/conferences/panel discussions on the topic of park accessibility. Each barrier/facilitator identified was categorized into themes related to social issues, physical access, sensory issues, financial concerns, wayfinding, policy/governance, informational needs, and adaptive equipment. The most frequently identified barriers/facilitators were related to physical barriers, the role of policy/governance, and access to adaptive equipment. A link to a list of our final included videos is provided to help raise awareness of barriers and facilitators to park accessibility for land managers and policy makers.
