摘要
Background: In a concept-based curriculum (CBC), exemplars are used to help students connect concepts to real world experiences. Challenges for faculty are knowing which exemplars to select and avoiding the pitfall of using anecdotes, feelings, or opinions as the basis for selecting exemplars. Innovation: This article provides a step-by-step process for selecting exemplars using Nelson's Data, Informa- tion, Knowledge, and Wisdom (DIKW) model. Implications: Faculty teaching in a CBC can apply the DIKW model in selecting exemplars. Conclusions: Choosing exemplars can be difficult when creating, implementing, and maintaining a CBC. Using a step-by-step approach can help faculty select relevant exemplars that align with ongoing changes in health care while avoiding content overload. 2025 The Authors.
