摘要
This study investigated the monthly, seasonal, annual and spatial variations and the type of relationship between daily maximum air temperature (MAT) and solar irradiance (SI) in six cities in Iraq over the period 2014–2023. The statistical parameters such as mean values with their standard deviations, Pearson’s correlation coefficient (R), goodness of fit, scatter plots and linear regression model were used. The results show that there was a time lag of about 2 months for MAT resulting from maximum SI. Monthly maximum SI occurred in June with a value of 8 kWh/m2/day in all Iraqi cities. MAT occurred in two summer months (July and August) with different values ranging from 44°C in Shakhan to 47.6°C in Basrah. The monthly linear relationship between SI and MAT in all cities has a positive very strong correlation (R > 0.88), but their annual relationship has a weak coefficient, especially in the southern and central parts. © 2025 Informa UK Limited, trading as Taylor & Francis Group.
