摘要
Gender-based political violence is a type of systemic violence directed at women who occupy the political field, whether during the pre-election or electoral period or while exercising their mandates. This process is established as a reaction of male power with the aim of preventing women's access to governance spaces. Gender-based political violence differs from the aggression that any other candidate can be a victim of in that the acts are notably motivated solely by the existence of women as politicians. The objective of this article is to analyze the state of the art of Brazilian legislation in combating gender-based political violence and ways to eliminate it, characterizing political violence as a violation of women's human rights. Finally, it seeks to analyze reports of cases of political gender violence in Brazil with the aim of highlighting the importance of the debate and the seriousness of the events.
