REPRESENTATIONS OF EVALUATION PRACTICES IN SCHOOL REPORTS: A STUDY FROM THE PERSPECTIVE OF SCHOOL CULTURE

摘要
The aim of this article is to present representations of assessment practices evidenced in reports of school groups in Santa Catarina produced between the 1940s and 1950s. The study considered a set of 19 reports sent to the Department of Education, which were safeguarded in public and school archives and accessed in physical and/or digital form. In theoretical terms, the research was linked to studies from the perspective of school culture. The investigation made it possible to identify, in general, the potential of school reports as a source of analysis for the historiography of education and, in specific, representations of assessment practices, with emphasis on: 1J tests/exams, as a strategy for measuring the degree of progress of students in their studies; 2J formation of selective classes, as a strategy for school organization, and 3J rituals of celebration of merit, as a strategy for emulation.
