Interfaith Dialogue through Religious Institutions: Rereading the Speeches of the Grand Imam of Al-Azhar Al-Sharif

Interfaith dialogue is considered an important and difficult topic. Addressing it requires shedding light on those who attempt to find common ground for interreligious dialogue rather than imposing guardianship over others or looking at them in a condescending way. In this direction, the messages of the institution of Al-Azhar Al-Sharif have not been limited to Islam and Muslims. The institution's belief in the universal humanitarian message of Islam has necessitated that Al-Azhar Al-Sharif be active in the humanitarian field, promoting its values and principles and its universal call to reject violence, build bridges, and support dialogue for a more peaceful and secure humanity. Al-Azhar Al-Sharif has realized that the best way to dispel darkness and end current crises is through religious dialogue and building bridges with other religions and cultures. This article presents the role of Al-Azhar Al-Sharif in supporting religious dialogue with various religious institutions around the world, and particularly with the Vatican.
