摘要：

The presence of religious symbols in public spaces has been generating legal disputes, the resolution of which involves defining the role of the State vis-a-vis religion. Particularly in States where religion holds a significant place in their history and culture, a request to remove a religious symbol from a public place where it has long been displayed requires considering its significance within the country's traditions and its impact on believers and nonbelievers. This paper analyzes the issue in light of a ruling issued by a court in the province of Tucum & aacute;n, Argentina.
