摘要：

War with Gaza is a structural feature of Israel/Palestine. It endures from one episode to the next in brutality, death, suffering, and collective memory. This short essay engages with the social imagination of some Israelis regarding the Gaza wars in their broader context. In particular, it reflects on a fieldwork encounter with a right-wing, religiously motivated settler during the 2014 Gaza war and the ongoing relevance of that encounter.
