摘要
PurposeThis study aims to propose a theoretical model with dimensions, categories, indicators and descriptors to evaluate the social relevance of graduate studies. It addresses specific problems in current graduate programs, such as the lack of comprehensive integration of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) and the limited emphasis on social impact.Design/methodology/approachThe research begins with a systematic literature review to establish a literature review that underscores the importance of aligning graduate programs with the SDGs. This includes analyzing existing graduate program indicators in dimensions such as employability, curriculum, educational tools, publications, financing, patents, campus and healthy environments. The study then develops and validates a model for evaluating the performance of graduate programs, ensuring that the findings are closely aligned with the study's purpose.FindingsThe validated model effectively identifies key areas where graduate programs can enhance their social impact through the integration of SDGs. This alignment helps address gaps in current educational practices and promotes a more holistic approach to sustainable development in higher education.Originality/valueThe originality of this work lies in the construction of a model that not only aligns with the SDGs but also provides a comprehensive framework for assessing the social impacts of Brazilian graduate programs (master's and doctorate). This model addresses the identified gaps and offers practical recommendations for improving the social relevance of graduate education.
