摘要
PurposeThis study aimed to translate and culturally adapt the original English version of the life satisfaction questionnaire into Arabic (LISAT-9-Ar) and examine its psychometric properties among patients with spinal cord injury (SCI).Materials and methodsThe translation and culturally adaptation into Arabic followed the published guidelines. The mental health subscale (MHI-5) of the 36-item short form health survey (SF-36), and the satisfaction with life scale (SWLS) were used to examine convergent validity. USING Spearman's correlation coefficient (rho). Reliability was tested after two weeks using intra-class correlation coefficient (ICC) and the internal consistency (Cronbach's alpha).ResultsA total of 150 participants were recruited to test the convergent validity of the LISAT-9. LISAT-9-Ar showed a positive strong correlation with SWLS (rho = 0.81) and moderate correlations with the MHI-5 (rho = 0.66). Sixty participants were recruited to test reliability, the test-retest reliability was excellent (ICC = 0.94, 95% CI = 0.912-0.958 and Cronbach's alpha = 0.94). The SEM of the total score was 0.27 with an MCD 95 of 0.75 (18%) with no floor or ceiling effect.ConclusionThe LISAT-9-Ar shows excellent psychometric properties supporting its usefulness for research and clinical purposes.
