How does career calling impact teachers' self-efficacy, competencies and satisfaction? A structural equation model

摘要
This study investigates the role of calling within the teaching profession, proposing an explanatory model that examines the relationships between calling, career competencies, occupational self-efficacy, life satisfaction and subjective career success. Utilising structural equation modelling (SEM) and data collected from a sample of 801 Romanian teachers, the study evaluates how a strong sense of career calling enhances occupational self-efficacy and perceived competencies, which in turn influence both subjective career success and overall life satisfaction. Results underscore the centrality of a calling orientation in teaching, suggesting its integration as a focus within teacher education programs to support career development and personal fulfilment. Cette & eacute;tude examine le r & ocirc;le de l'appel au sein de la profession enseignante, proposant un mod & egrave;le explicatif qui examine les relations entre l'appel, les comp & eacute;tences de carri & egrave;re, l'auto-efficacit & eacute; professionnelle, la satisfaction de vie et le succ & egrave;s de carri & egrave;re subjectif. En utilisant la mod & eacute;lisation par & eacute;quations structurelles (SEM) et les donn & eacute;es recueillies aupr & egrave;s d'un & eacute;chantillon de 801 enseignants roumains, l'& eacute;tude & eacute;value comment un fort sens de l'appel de carri & egrave;re renforce l'auto-efficacit & eacute; professionnelle et les comp & eacute;tences per & ccedil;ues, qui, & agrave; leur tour, influencent & agrave; la fois le succ & egrave;s de carri & egrave;re subjectif et la satisfaction de vie globale. Les r & eacute;sultats soulignent la centralit & eacute; d'une orientation d'appel dans l'enseignement, sugg & eacute;rant son int & eacute;gration comme un focus au sein des programmes de formation des enseignants pour soutenir le d & eacute;veloppement de carri & egrave;re et l'& eacute;panouissement personnel. Este estudio investiga el papel de la vocaci & oacute;n dentro de la profesi & oacute;n docente, proponiendo un modelo explicativo que examina las relaciones entre la vocaci & oacute;n, las competencias profesionales, la autoeficacia ocupacional, la satisfacci & oacute;n vital y el & eacute;xito profesional subjetivo. Utilizando el modelado de ecuaciones estructurales (SEM) y los datos recogidos de una muestra de 801 profesores rumanos, el estudio eval & uacute;a c & oacute;mo un fuerte sentido de vocaci & oacute;n profesional mejora la autoeficacia ocupacional y las competencias percibidas, que, a su vez, influyen tanto en el & eacute;xito profesional subjetivo como en la satisfacci & oacute;n vital general. Los resultados subrayan la centralidad de una orientaci & oacute;n vocacional en la ense & ntilde;anza, sugiriendo su integraci & oacute;n como un enfoque dentro de los programas de formaci & oacute;n docente para apoyar el desarrollo profesional y el cumplimiento personal. Diese Studie untersucht die Rolle der Berufung im Lehrerberuf und schl & auml;gt ein erkl & auml;rungsorientiertes Modell vor, das die Beziehungen zwischen Berufung, beruflichen Kompetenzen, beruflicher Selbstwirksamkeit, Lebenszufriedenheit und subjektivem Berufserfolg untersucht. Mit Hilfe von Strukturgleichungsmodellen (SEM) und Daten, die von einer Stichprobe von 801 rum & auml;nischen Lehrern gesammelt wurden, bewertet die Studie, wie ein starkes Gef & uuml;hl der Berufung die berufliche Selbstwirksamkeit und wahrgenommene Kompetenzen erh & ouml;ht, die wiederum sowohl den subjektiven Berufserfolg als auch die allgemeine Lebenszufriedenheit beeinflussen. Die Ergebnisse unterstreichen die zentrale Bedeutung einer Berufungsorientierung im Lehrberuf und schlagen ihre Integration als Schwerpunkt in Lehrerausbildungsprogrammen vor, um die berufliche Entwicklung und pers & ouml;nliche Erf & uuml;llung zu unterst & uuml;tzen.
