摘要:
Two small gas-turbine engines equipped with starter-generator motors were evaluated for power output to explore the possible application of commercial-off-the-shelf (COTS) engines to unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV) systems. The extensive availability and low cost of COTS engines make them worth investigating. The addition of a generator to these engines is advantageous because it allows the engine to charge its battery and power other electronics onboard the aircraft. The measured power output of each engine was used to validate the manufacturer's specified power. The effect of power offtake on thrust and fuel consumption was also evaluated.
