摘要：

The presence of natives of the kingdom in the pontifical court could be an indirect way for the monarchies to achieve their objectives in the Curia. The importance that their advice could have before the pope could tip the balance in favor of royal interests. In this paper we analyze the relevance of the figure of the Castilian cardinals, and especially Juan Alfonso de Mella, and the possibilities of his influence in the papal court.
