Multiculturalism and indigenous rights in Latin America

This paper aims to describe multiculturalism and its scope in some Latin American constitutions. To achieve this, we conducted a literature review using a qualitative descriptive research methodology. On this basis, it was possible to determine that multiculturalism is both reinterpreted and adapted to the diverse regional realities and is incorporated into the constitutions either directly or through reforms. Despite the criticisms addressed mainly at the liberal foundation of this approach, it remains a valid epistemology to support the interpretation and application of the principle of ethnic and cultural diversity.
