摘要
Materials science has become crucial in shaping an eco-friendly future in an era of growing environmental consciousness and the need for sustainable solutions. Shape memory alloys, known for their ability to "remember" and regain their original shape after deformation, could be a promising option for industrial and medical device systems in the pursuit of sustainability. This perspective aims to explore the intricate relationship between shape memory alloys and sustainability by highlighting their unique characteristics, examining their role in materials science, and discussing the reasons behind their status as sustainable materials and their future potential. Shape memory alloys offer a compelling solution for many industrial and medical applications owing to their shape memory effect, superelasticity, and durability. From analyzing their various applications in industry and healthcare to evaluating challenges and future prospects, this article aims to understand how shape memory alloys comprehensively contribute to a more sustainable world.
