摘要
Mechanical modeling of screening current-induced stress simulation is a complex numerical problem, especially when considering all contacts between turns of no-insulation coils. To avoid complex modeling of every stacked coil, modeling individual single pancake coils with certain boundary conditions or grouping several turns as one turn has been widely investigated. Winding compressibility which is known to reduce overall Young's modulus of winding may be another key factor to consider turn-to-turn contact of dry wound magnets (e.g. no insulation coils). In this study, we discuss how mechanical boundary conditions and winding compressibility affect screening current analysis results based on numerical simulation.
