Some Changes in Urban Mobility in Times of COVID-19: Family Chronicles in Bogota

Urban mobility changed with the arrival of the Covid-19 pandemic worldwide. The use of different modes of transportation took very diverse directions due to restrictions and recommendations issued by national authorities in each territory and, in some cases, by provisions of the World Health Organization (WHO). This article presents an example of this phenomenon, employing a methodology that combines empirical data collection through a classroom exercise investigating changes in urban mobility among 21 families in Bogot & aacute;, along with theoretical analysis. This approach enables a comprehensive view of the subject. These elements are examined within a theoretical framework, referencing studies published in recent years, when strict and voluntary lockdowns were widespread across much of the world, and governments implemented measures that altered urban mobility. Which of these changes will persist even with the end of the pandemic, potentially reshaping how people move permanently?
