Spatiotemporal mode-locked soliton molecules with tunable pulse numbers and intervals in an all-step-index-fiber laser

摘要
We report the generation of soliton molecules in an all-step-index-fiber spatiotemporal mode-locked (STML) laser. By adjusting the pump power and polarization controllers, various soliton molecules with tunable pulse numbers and intervals are achieved. Particularly, the pulse intervals of the soliton molecules can be tuned from 14.9 ps to 234.3 ps. The obtained results are beneficial for exploring the complex nonlinear characteristics of STML fiber lasers, and such flexible soliton molecules hold promising applications in optical communication, all-optical information storage and ultrafast characterization.
