Predictability of graft size in anterior cruciate ligament replacement

Small graft diameters show increased rerupture rates in anterior cruciate ligament surgery. When using hamstring tendons, the patient's anatomy plays a central role in that slender tendons inevitably result in a graft with a small diameter. It is therefore important to be able to estimate the thickness of the tendon graft preoperatively in order to select an alternative graft if necessary. The aim of this study was to use routine preoperative MRI to estimate the graft thickness when using both hamstring tendons.
