摘要
Aims: This study aims to study the synergistic effect of sulfur spring water and mud with antibiotics against three bacteria that cause skin infections ( Klebsiella pneumonia, Acinetobacter baumannii and Enterobacter aerogenes), showing the effect of sulfur spring water and mud on the plasmid content of isolates. Methodology and results: Antibiotic sensitivity shows a high percentage of resistance (61.5%). The sulfur spring mud showed inhibitory activity against studied isolates compared to the sulfur spring water, which showed no activity. The results of synergy tests between sulfur spring water and mud and antibiotics showed a synergistic effect ranging between 8-28 mm and 6-30 mm for each sulfur spring water and mud, respectively. It was found that mud was most efficient in its synergistic activity with antibiotics and the sulfur spring water and mud were able to convert the studied isolates from resistant to sensitive against the studied antibiotics. Conclusion, significance and impact of study: The study concludes that based on the studied isolates, A. baumannii and E. aerogenes contained one plasmid band each, while K. pneumonia bacteria possessed three plasmid bands and sulfur mud showed a curing effect on plasmids of K. pneumonia.
