This article studies and edits a short poetic opuscule entitled Il lamento dell'Illustrissima Duchessa di Fiorenza. It is an ad hoc pamphlet printed approximately in 1537, after the assassination of Alessandro de' Medici, Duke of Florence, which joined other works of the same type printed at the time for political and propagandistic purposes, all framed in the genre of the lament, of great textual tradition in Italian literature of occasion related to historical events.
