Impact of welding current on arc physical characteristics in single-power, double-wire, single-arc gas metal arc welding

摘要
Traditional double-wire welding has a complex system, interference between the two arcs, and poor controllability. In this work, the arc numerical analysis model of single-power double-wire single-arc gas metal arc welding (SDS-GMAW) is established. The arc temperature, arc velocity, and arc pressure distributions of SDS-GMAW with spacing of 1 mm under different welding currents are simulated by Fluent software. The research shows that the formation shape of double-wire single-arc is the coupling mode of "lower overlap + upper attraction." The arc temperature field of SDS-GMAW was symmetrically distributed as a whole, and the arc shape was similar to the umbrella shape of the half-waist beam. With the increase of welding current, the degree of half-waist contraction is more and more intense, and the height and area of the arc temperature distribution between the two wires increase. The maximum arc temperature and the arc current density increase with the increase of welding current.
