The Prologues of Feliciano de Silva: from the Romances of Chivalry to Segunda Celestina

The aim of this article is to analyse Feliciano de Silva's prologues in their romances of Chivalry and in Segunda Celestina. Through these literary paratexts, it is considered of both thematic and topical elements of the chivalric prologue theory and its relationship with the Segunda Celestina's proemial letter. It stands out the presence of fictional games about the authorship of the texts, the idea of the survival of memory and the relationship Silva could have with the dedicatees. The main point is the defence of the usefulness of the ficcional texts linked to the cliche prodesse et delectare thanks to its plain style, which facilitates an apparent learning
